Solan, December 7
Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, has been ranked 11th among the agricultural universities and research institutes by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for 2019.
The university has improved its position by one rank from last year when it was placed on the 12th rank nationally. Even in the top 11, there are three ICAR institutes.
At a time when most of the state-run universities have failed to fare significantly in various national-level rankings, this is considered a significant achievement for the university. It is the lone university in Asia set up for horticulture and forestry.
The ICAR-run National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, has secured the top slot, followed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, on second
spot and ICAR-run Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, has come third. — TNS
