Woman killed, one other injured in Pak shelling on LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch

A 60-year-old lady was killed and one other injured after Pakistan focused ahead posts and villages with mortars alongside the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch district.

The deceased was recognized as Rasham Bi, a resident of Lanjote village in Mendhar. The 58-year-old Hakam Bi of the identical village acquired splinter accidents and was being handled.

Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand stated Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing and intense shelling in Balakote and Mendhar sectors of Poonch round 2 am on the intervening evening of July 7 and July 8. “The Army retaliated befittingly. The firing stopped at about 2.45 am,” he stated. The stretch is manned by 12 Madras Battalion.

Poonch SSP RK Angral stated a lady had misplaced her life whereas one other acquired splinter accidents. “However, no injury was reported to any army personnel,” he stated.

Sources stated, “One of the women died on the spot while the police shifted the injured woman to the nearby primary health centre in Dhargloon. She was referred to Government Medical College, Rajouri.”

Last month, India misplaced 5 troopers to Pakistan shelling alongside the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri sectors.
