Karnal, January 28

Returning farmers caused traffic snarls on the National Highway-44 towards Chandigarh on Wednesday—a development that comes a day after a tractor rally on Republic Day turned violent in the national capital.

Farmers have been seen returning home from the site of protests, even as there is currently a meeting underway to decide the future course of action after Tuesday’s developments and the subsequent FIRs against union leaders. Several farmers however continue to camp at Singhu border.

Leaders are also reconsidering their decision on holding a march to Parliament scheduled on February 1—the day the central government tables its budget.

Meanwhile, the All India Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee leader VM Singh distanced himself from Tuesday’s violence.
