Veterinary surgeons will take care of Covid 19 patients in the isolation wards being set up in villages in Hisar district.
The civil surgeon, Dr Ratna Bharti, has written a letter for deployment of 61 veterinary surgeons to the Deputy director of animal husbandry and dairying (DDAH&D) department in Hisar.
AS per the order, 61 veterinary doctors have been assigned duties in small towns, including Hansi, Barwala and Uklana.
Most of the veterinary surgeons have been assigned the villages where they were already posted in the government veterinary hospitals while others have been deputed to adjoining villages and small towns.
The veterinary association has expressed concern about the safety of the surgeons.
The association has demanded that they should be declared as Covid warriors and should be given insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh each alike the health workers.
The district administration has set up isolation wards in government schools, Panchayat Ghar dharamshala in villages. The VSs are attached to these isolation wards who will keep a record of the patients and send the reports to the officials.
The association also demanded that the they should be provided masks, sanitizers, thermometers, oximeters as these were in short supply at the PHC and CHC, said district president of animal veterinary surgeon association in Hisar Dr RS Khasa.
