Train tragedy: Sidhu aide amongst 7 named in FIR

Amritsar, July 10

A particular investigation group (SIT) constituted by Punjab Police to probe the 2018 Dasehra prepare tragedy has nominated seven members of the organising committee, together with former Punjab Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s aide Saurav Madaan, alias Mithu Madaan, to the FIR.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) stated the organisers had held the occasion with out obligatory permissions and security measures. The programme was held at Dhobi Ghat that lacked area to accommodate massive gatherings. Interestingly, the GRP submitted a challan in an area courtroom with none arrests, fearing a legislation and order scenario as they loved “political patronage”. The GRP had registered a case below Sections 304-A (dying by negligence), 337 (inflicting damage) and 338 (grievous damage) of the IPC on October 19, 2018. — TNS
