Two militants had been killed in an encounter with safety forces on the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday, police stated.

Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Ranbirgarh space on Saturday following details about the presence of militants there, a police official stated.

He stated because the forces had been conducting the search, militants fired upon them.

The forces retaliated, resulting in an encounter, the official stated, including that two militants had been killed.

One of the 2 militants has been recognized as high Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Ishfaq Rashid, a resident of Sozeith village in Srinagar. With PTI
