Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad had been killed and three troopers had been injured in a gunfight in Kulgam district on Friday, police stated.
The gunfight erupted in Nagnad Chimmer when safety forces launched a cordon and search operation within the space following an enter in regards to the presence of militants.
“The operation was launched around midnight. As the security forces approached the suspected area spot, the hiding militants fired at them at around 5.30 am, which was retaliated triggering an encounter. In the gunfight three militants were killed,” a police officer stated. “Three soldiers were also wounded in the gunfight and they were shifted to a medical facility.”
One of the slain militants has been recognized by police as Jaish-e-Mohamamd’s IED skilled Waleed bahi, a Pakistani nationwide. Waleed was among the many prime wished militants in Kashmir.
Security forces seized arms and ammunition from the encounter website.
Meanwhile, the combing operation alongside the Line of Control in Keran sector of Kupwara district entered its second day on Friday. The Army on Thursday claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid in Keran and killed a militant.
