Himachal Governor Bandaru Dattatreya had a narrow escape when his official car veered off the road on the national highway near Choutuppal town in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana this morning.
The Governor and other occupants of the car escaped unhurt. The accident took place when he was on his way to attend a public function in Nalgonda district. The Governor later proceeded towards his destination in another vehicle.
According to the police, the driver lost control apparently after the steering suddenly turned left and the vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree before coming to a halt.
CM Jai Ram Thakur called him up to enquire about his well-being. Dattatreya hails from Telangana and was in active politics before being appointed Himachal Governor. He represented the Secunderabad constituency and was elected MP thrice.
