Punjab Government has determined to alter the highest directors of Government Medical College (GMC) and Rajindra Hospital over rising variety of COVID circumstances within the hospital —a growth that comes amid escalating coronavirus circumstances within the state and district.
The determination got here every week after Punjab Minister for Medical Education OP Soni’s go to to the hospital with principal secretary DK Tiwari. Soni mentioned the rising variety of COVID deaths within the hospital was a matter of explicit concern.
“I had personally visited the college and Hospital last week, and found that its administration lax,” he mentioned.
Rajindra Hospital has recorded 482 COVID deaths so far—225 of that are from Patiala and the remainder from different elements of the state.
In the meantime, Dr Rajan Singla of the Anatomy Department has been appointed as GMC Principal and DR HS Rekhi of the Surgery Department will take over because the medical superintendent of the Hospital. Dr RPS Sibia of the division of medicines might be vice-principal.
