Washington, November 7
Outgoing President Donald dismissed election results that pointed to his democratic challenger Joe Biden’s victory in Tuesday’s nail-biting elections.
As news channels and major media houses began calling a Democratic victory, Trump said his campaign would challenge the results in court.
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed,” he said in a statement. “The simple fact is this election is far from over.” Trump has repeatedly made unfounded claims of fraud in the election and has threatened lawsuits against an adverse outcome.
“From the beginning we have said that all legal ballots must be counted and all illegal ballots should not be counted, yet we have met resistance to this basic principle by Democrats at every turn,” he said in an earlier statement released by his campaign.
Trump earlier levelled an extraordinary attack on the democratic process, appearing at the White House on Thursday evening to falsely claim the election was being “stolen” from him. Election officials across the nation have said they are unaware of any significant irregularities. — Agencies
