Record spike of 48,661 Covid instances pushes India’s tally to 13.85 lakh

Of the overall 32,063 deaths reported to this point, Maharashtra tops the tally with 13,389 fatalities, adopted by Delhi 3,806, Tamil Nadu 3,409 Gujarat 2,300, Karnataka 1,796, Uttar Pradesh 1,387, West Bengal 1,332, Andhra Pradesh 985 and Madhya Pradesh 799.

So far, 613 folks have died of COVID-19 in Rajasthan, 455 in Telangana (up to date figures awaited from state authorities), 389 in Haryana, 305 in Jammu and Kashmir, 291 in Punjab, 234 in Bihar, 130 in Odisha, 77 in Assam, 82 in Jharkhand, 63 in Uttarakhand and 59 in Kerala.

The Health Ministry careworn that greater than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred as a result of comorbidities.

Maharashtra has reported the best variety of instances at 3,66,368, adopted by Tamil Nadu 2,06,737, Delhi 1,29,531, Karnataka 90,942, Andhra Pradesh 88,671, Uttar Pradesh 63,742 West Bengal 56,377, and Gujarat 54,626 instances.

Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu collectively have reported 860 instances. Meghalaya has reported 646 instances, Sikkim 499, Mizoram 361, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands 290 instances.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the ICMR,” the ministry stated, including that state-wise distribution of figures is topic to additional verification and reconciliation. PTI
