PM to launch ‘Jan Andolan’ for COVID-appropriate conduct

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a national campaign for COVID-19 appropriate behaviour on Thursday in the wake of the upcoming festive and winter season and unlock process. He will start the jan andolan with a tweet.

A COVID-19 pledge will be taken by all and a concerted action plan will be implemented by the Centre with focus on region- specific targeted communication in high case-load districts; simple and easily messaging; banners and posters at public places; involvement of local and national influencers to drive home the message; running mobile vans for regular awareness generation; audio messages; pamphlets and brochures on awareness; seeking support of local cable operators for running COVID messages and coordinated media campaign across platforms for effective outreach and impact

The campaign aims to encourage people’s participation and will be a low cost high intensity messaging exercise with the key message to wear masks, follow physical distancing and maintain hand hygiene.

The campaign is essential to sustain recent gains in disease management India has seen by way of active cases remaining below 10 lakh for 16 days in a row and daily recoveries outstripping daily new cases for most part of the last fortnight.
