Pay anomalies in forces rectified

Tribune News Service

New Delhi, December 7

In a move that concerns thousands in the armed forces, the Department of Military Affairs has ordered that senior personnel, who are lagging behind in pay scales due some anomaly, will get salary equal to what others in the same rank and grade are getting.

Following promotions under separate pay commissions, anomalies had arisen due to which several thousand officers and jawans were being paid less than their juniors in the same rank.

Citing an example, an official said if a person got promoted to the rank of Colonel after the Sixth Pay Commission, he would be getting lesser salary than his juniors who would have gotten promoted to the same rank after implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission.

On the civilian side too such anomalies had cropped up automatically. In some cases, the difference in salary is a few thousand rupees. The orders were issued last month and the compliance is expected soon.
