Pakistan ‘masquerading’ as terror sufferer: India at UN

United Nations, August 25

India hit out at Pakistan for its litany of lies on the United Nations after Islamabad’s UN envoy claimed to have given a press release in a Security Council assembly not open to non-Council members and mentioned the most important sponsor of cross-border terrorism in opposition to it now tries to “masquerade” itself as a sufferer of terror.

Calling out Pakistan’s lie that it has been a goal of cross-border terrorism for many years, India mentioned “a lie repeated a hundred times will not become truth. The biggest sponsor of cross-border terrorism against India now tries to masquerade itself as a victim of terrorism by India,” India’s Permanent Mission to the UN mentioned.

The Pakistan Mission falsely claimed that its UN envoy Munir Akram gave a press release at a Security Council debate on report of the Secretary General on threats to worldwide peace and safety posed by terrorism actions.

However, the Security Council assembly on threats to worldwide peace and safety was not open to non-members of the Council. {A photograph} of the assembly tweeted by the German Mission to the UN confirmed solely envoys of the 15 Security Council members taking part within the assembly. Pakistan is just not a member of the Council. — PTI
