Over 1 lakh vacancies in CAPFs, govt tells Rajya Sabha

Over 1 lakh posts are mendacity vacant within the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) just like the BSF and the CRPF, and the vacancies have occurred principally as a consequence of retirement, resignation and deaths, the Rajya Sabha was instructed on Monday.

The authorities claimed that the Naxal violence had lowered significantly, including that the menace was prevalent solely in 46 districts of the nation.

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai stated the BSF had the best variety of vacancies (28,926), adopted by the CRPF (26,506), the CISF (23,906), the SSB (18,643), the ITBP (5,784) and the Assam Rifles (7,328).

“Vacancies in the CAPFs and Assam Rifles arise due to retirement, resignation, death, new raising, creation of new posts, cadre reviews, etc. Majority of these vacancies are in the grade of constable,” the Minister stated.

Rai stated there exists a well-established process to fill these vacancies like via direct recruitment, promotion and by deputation, as per the extant provisions of Recruitment Rules. The authorities has taken expeditious steps to fill the vacancies, which is an ongoing steady course of.

At current, the method of recruitment for 60,210 posts of constable, 2,534 posts of sub-inspector via the Staff Selection Commission and 330 posts of assistant commandant via the Union Public Service Commission is underway, the Minister stated.

Meanwhile, in a reply to a different query, Minister of State (MoS), Home, G Kishan Reddy stated 90 districts in 11 states within the nation are thought-about left-wing extremism (LWE)-affected and lined below the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) Scheme of the ministry. But the LWE-related violent incidents have been reported in 61 districts in 2019 and in solely 46 districts within the first half of 2020.
