New Delhi, October 15
Agriculture Ministry officials on Thursday said the government was committed to protect the interests of farmers and was open for discussions with them.
They said issues concerning farmers were discussed by Agriculture Secretary during his meeting with farm unions on Wednesday. On criticism that no Union minister was present, the officials said the meeting was scheduled to be held at the secretary level and the farmers were aware of it. The unions even handed over two memorandums to Agarwal, they said. — TNS
