‘Lightning strikes’ Haridwar Har ki Pairi, big wall inbuilt 1935 collapses

Heavy in a single day rains led to the collapse of an enormous wall at Har ki Pairi on the banks of the Ganga right here within the early hours of Tuesday, officers stated.                

The incident occurred at round 3.30 am however nobody was harm, Additional Mela officers Lalit Narayan Mishra and Harbir Singh stated after inspecting the spot on Tuesday morning.         

Residents had been bowled over to see an enormous mound of particles close to Brahmakund at Har Ki Pairi after they wakened and it was being suspected that the wall collapse was apparently induced both by lightning or by digging of a close-by highway it for laying underground electrical energy wires.

Ascetics and seers reacted angrily to the incident which, in keeping with them, mustn’t have occurred at a time when the state is gearing up for the 2021 Kumbh in Haridwar.

Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad’s president Mahant Narendra Giri stated, “Har ki Pairi is a national heritage and conserving it is our collective responsibility. The state government should immediately repair and beautify it.”         

 Jairam Ashram paramadhyaksha Swami Brahmaswaroop Brahmachari and Swami Harichetnanand Maharaj complained that issues are being accomplished in a really unplannned method in Haridwar which can result in an enormous accident sooner or later.

They suggested the administration to look at all the Har ki Pairi space from security standpoint and perform the required restore work wherever required.

Teerth purohit Pandit Ashutosh Sharma stated the wall that collapsed had been inbuilt 1935. PTI
