Legendary classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj dies at 90

Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj died on Monday following a cardiac arrest at his dwelling in New Jersey, his daughter Durga Jasraj mentioned. He was 90.

A Padma Vibhushan awardee, Pandit Jasraj had the honour of a minor planet, between Mars and Jupiter, being named after him.

International Astronomical Union (IAU) had named minor planet 2006 VP32 (quantity -300128), found on November 11, 2006 , as ‘Panditjasraj’.

He was additionally awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan apart from many different honours.

Condoling the loss of life of Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday mentioned his demise has left a deep void within the Indian cultural sphere.
