Chandigarh, January 14
Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal on Thursday said that the proposed January 26 tractor parade, against the three contentious farm laws, will be held on Delhi borders and not inside the capital city.
There was speculation on social media that farmers would march to the Rajpath.
In a letter to farmers, Rajewal said a lot of rumours were being spread to malign the farmers’ agitation.
Urging farmers to maintain peace and harmony, he said the outline for the January 26 parade will be conveyed and everyone should steer clear of issuing “wrong statements on the issue”.
We will carry out a tractor parade, the details of which will be finalised on January 16, the farmer leader said
Notably, not just social media, a section among farmers’ agitation were also making claims that they would hoist the National Flag at the Red Fort and march on Delhi roads.
Farmer leaders are saying that the tractor march will be peaceful and the outline of the programme on the day will be decided after the meeting with union ministers on Friday.
So far, there has been no official confirmation for the meeting.
