J-Ok cadre IPS officer suspended for ‘misconduct’


New Delhi, July 8

Jammu and Kashmir cadre IPS officer Basant Rath has been suspended for alleged situations of “gross misconduct and misbehaviour” with quick impact, says a Union Home Ministry order.

The order, issued on Tuesday night, stated the 2000 batch IPS officer was instantly hooked up to the Police Headquarters in Srinagar.

Rath, posted as Inspector General (IG), Civil Defence, within the union territory, has been requested to not go away the headquarters with out permission from the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The order said that disciplinary proceedings in opposition to Rath have been contemplated in reference to “repeated instances of gross misconduct and misbehaviour” which were dropped at the discover of the federal government.

He has been positioned beneath suspension with quick impact, it stated. PTI
