Kullu on Thursday reported the highest-ever haul of 111 kg cannabis worth crores of rupees.

Himachal DGP Sanjay Kundu said police were targeting “big fish in drug and narcotics trafficking”.

Focus would now be on qualitative drugs besides quantity, he said.

Himachal Pradesh police have stepped up its anti-narcotics drive this year.

The total recovery of charas so far in the first fortnight of the year was 33.2 Kgs. Out of these, four cases of seizure are of more than two kg each and 10 cases of seizure of more than one kg.

Police have changed its policy to break the organised criminals in the illicit trafficking rather than addressing street-level peddlers.

HP Police has also been investigating the source and destination of these consignments along with financial investigations so that properties of key accused maybe got attached and confiscated.
