The IITs have determined to drop the admission criterion in respect of minimal Class 12 marks this yr.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal mentioned: “For admissions to the IITs, apart from qualifying the JEE (Advanced), the eligibility was to secure either minimum score of 75 per cent marks in Class 12 board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations.”
“Due to the partial cancellation of Class 12 exams by several boards, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for JEE (Advanced) 2020-qualified candidates this time,” the HRD Minister added.
The minister added that the certified JEE Advanced candidates, who’ve handed the Class 12 examinations, will now be eligible for admissions to the IITs regardless of the marks obtained.
JEE Main 2020 shall be held between September 1 and 6 this yr, whereas JEE Advanced (for admissions to IITs) shall be performed on September 27.
