Haryana suspends cellular web providers in 14 districts until Saturday

The Haryana government on Friday suspended mobile internet services in 14 districts till 5 pm on Saturday after clashes between protesters and a group of men claiming to be locals at Singhu border.

The Haryana government has ordered the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, Jind, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, and Rohtak districts.

Voice calls will however remain active, as will SMS services only for banking and mobile recharge.

An official spokesperson said the state decided to extend the suspension of Internet services to stop the spread of disinformation and rumours through various social media platforms on mobile phones. 

These services have already been suspended in Sonipat, Jhajjar, and Palwal districts. With IANS
