New Delhi, January 21

A major fire broke out on Thursday at an under construction portion of the Serum Institute of India’s facility, Pune, where the stockpile and manufacture of Oxford University Astra Zeneca Covishield is maintained.

Initial reports suggest there’s no harm to SII’s vaccine manufacture and storage base.

SII sources said a fire broke out at a new construction zone at the facility and not in the vaccine making area.

Further details are awaited.
