New Delhi, November 2
The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Centre to file status report in six weeks on the confidential legal proceedings pending in the UK on extradition of fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya to India.
On October 5, the Centre had told the SC that Mallya could not be extradited to India until a separate “secret” legal process in the UK, which was “judicial and confidential in nature” was resolved.
The Bench of Justices UU Lalit and Ashok Bhushan posted the matter for hearing in the first week of January. It refused to accept the plea of advocate EC Agarwala, appearing for Mallya, seeking discharge from the case. — PTI
