Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, who underwent a successful angioplasty last week, on Thursday appeared in a video thanking everyone for their wishes and concern and hoped to meet his 1983 World Cup winning teammates soon.
Wearing a purple sweater and black trousers, Kapil, 61, posted the video in an exclusive WhatsApp group of the members of the 1983 World Cup-winning team.
“My family 83. The weather is very pleasant and I am very eager to meet you all. I am feeling very good. Thank you for your wishes and concern. I hope we will meet very soon. I don’t know when the movie will release but I will try to meet you all as early as possible. We have reached the end of the year and I am confident that we will have a great start to next year. Love you all,” Kapil says in the 29-second long video.
Kapil Dev suffered a cardiac arrest last Thursday and underwent angioplasty the following day at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute.
A Bollywood movie on the historic victory in the 1983 World Cup, titled 83, with Ranveer Singh in the lead role is awaiting a release date.
Kapil had led India to its maiden World Cup victory in 1983.
The former captain, who also showed his proficiency in golf after retiring from cricket, is the only player to claim over 400 wickets (434) and accumulate more than 5000 runs in Tests.
He was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame in 2010.
