The daily Covid-19 cases fell below 30,000 today for the third time in a month with total cases touching 98,84,100 with 27,071 new infections. The toll rose to 1,43,355 with 336 deaths in 24 hours.
The recoveries stood at 93,88,159 while the recovery rate was 94.98 per cent as against the case fatality rate of 1.45 per cent. The active cases totalled 3,52,586 (3.57% of the total), the lowest in 149 days. The total active cases were 3,58,692 on July 18.

As against 27,071 new cases, there were 30,695 recoveries in 24 hours. Meanwhile, the operational guidelines on vaccines issued by the Centre say that the general population will be able to register for the vaccine administration only in the later part of the implementation plan.
The priority population will be inoculated first and only those people will be vaccinated who pre-register on the government’s digital vaccine delivery platform Co-WIN.
“Common service centres may be utilised for self-registration wherever needed. The self-registration module of Co-WIN will be made available in the later phases of implementation,” the guidelines say.
