The Delhi High Court on Thursday stayed the four-year jail time period awarded to ex-Samata Party president Jaya Jaitly in a corruption case associated to a purported defence deal, her lawyer mentioned.
Justice Suresh Kumar Kait additionally sought the CBI response on Jaitly’s attraction difficult her conviction and sentence, advocate Abhijat mentioned.
Jaitly, represented by means of senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi and PP Malhotra, challenged the July 21 order of the trial court docket convicting her within the case.
Jaitly and two others had been held responsible of corruption in a 2000-01 case associated to a purported defence deal, the lawyer mentioned.
They had been sentenced to four-year imprisonment on Thursday by the trial court docket which has directed them to give up by 5 pm.
