Cricketer Suresh Raina’s ‘relative’ killed in assault by robbers in Pathankot


Chandigarh, August 29

A 58-year-old man stated to be a relative of cricketer Suresh Raina died whereas 4 members of his household sustained accidents allegedly in an assault by robbers, police stated on Saturday.

The deceased has been recognized as Ashok Kumar, a authorities contractor.

The incident passed off at Thariyal village in Punjab’s Pathankot district on the evening intervening August 19 and 20, police stated.

According to them, three to 4 members of the infamous “Kale Kachhewala” gang had include an intention to loot, attacked Ashok Kumar and his relations at their home at Thariyal village close to Madhopur of Pathankot.

At the time of the assault, they have been sleeping on the terrace of their home.

Ashok Kumar, who had suffered head accidents, died whereas 4 others sustained accidents, stated police.

Kumar’s dying was additionally confirmed by Pathankot Senior Superintendent of Police Gulneet Singh Khurana. As far as Kumar’s relation with cricketer Raina, the SSP stated he has no affirmation about it. He could also be a relative, he stated.

“We are investigating the matter,” stated the SSP.

According to police, robbers decamped with some money and gold from the home.

Kumar’s 80-year-old mom Satya Devi, his spouse Asha Devi, sons Apin and Kuashal suffered accidents, stated police.
