Chandigarh lifts weekend lockdown; outlets, markets to stay open

Chandigarh Administration on Friday eliminated weekend lockdown.

Now, outlets and markets to stay open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Earlier, UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore had ordered the closure of all outlets and institutions (besides important outlets and companies) on Saturdays and Sundays within the metropolis till additional orders.

UT Adviser Manoj Parida mentioned there could be no ban on the motion of individuals or items on weekends and curfew within the metropolis would proceed to stay in impact from 10 pm to five am.

The resolution was taken after the UT witnessed a pointy rise within the variety of coronavirus instances. 

Meanwhile, the metropolis on Thursday reported two deaths because of Covid-19 and the best single-day spike of 188 instances.
