Chandigarh, April 6
Chandigarh Administration announced night curfew in the union territory on Tuesday to help stem the rising COVID-19 cases.
Curfew hours are between 10 pm and 5 am, during which time only essential services will be allowed to function, a press release from the administration said.
No gatherings will be allowed during curfew hours, and all restaurants must shut down by 10 pm, the press release said.
The decision will be reviewed when the situation improves, the press release said.
It’s still unclear when these curfew timings come into effect. This story will updated with that information when it comes.
Stricter measures such as weekend curfews and closing of apni mandis as well as other crowded places will have to be considered unless people following COVID guidelines, the press release said.
According to the union health ministry’s statement last week, Chandigarh’s positivity rate stood at 11.2 per cent—among the highest in the country. The union territory had 3,062 active cases until Tuesday evening.
