The BJP on Friday slammed Chirag Paswan and his party, the LJP, stating that it is fighting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections with JD-U, VIP and HAM(S) and that there is no place in Indian politics for a ‘vote katua’ party.

Advising Chirag Paswan to fight on his own strength like other smaller parties led by regional leaders like Pappu Yadav and Pushpam Priya and “stop firing from the shoulders of the BJP”, party spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “I want to clarify once and for all, we have no B team, C team or D team. We are fighting these elections with JD-U, VIP and HAM(S) against the apavitra gathbandhan of RJD- Congress etc. We are pavitra (pure) gathbandhan and they are apavitra (impure) gathbandhan.”

In the most categorical criticism of the LJP which is contesting the upcoming elections independently, Patra said the LJP is fighting a battle of existence but the way it is “spreading lies is condemnable”.

“Let me tell there is no place in poltics for a vote katua,” he said, claiming that the NDA alliance will win with a two-third majority on November 10, when results are announced.

LJP president Chirag Paswan has been repeatedly criticising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ahead of the state polls. Earlier today BJP national general secretary Bhupender Yadav, who is in-charge of Bihar, also termed Paswan’s remarks as “unfortunate”.

Stating that Paswan won the Jamui seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha election as a part of the NDA, he also recalled that the LJP chief had praised the functioning of the Bihar government till as recently as February 2020, questioning what then led to a change in stance in past few months.

The BJP leader said the Jamui MP was indulging in the “politics of lies” to further his own interests.

On Thursday, Paswan said his parting of ways with Nitish Kumar had nothing to do with the NDA seat-sharing formula, alleging that JD-U had worked against LJP candidates in the 2019 Lok Sabha election in violation of the “coalition dharma”.

He also claimed that the Bihar CM had behaved in a haughty manner when his late father Ram Vilas Paswan requested him to accompany him for filing the nomination papers for Rajya Sabha.
