Authorities cautious as Covid graph flattens

New Delhi, October 12

Steady decline in the active caseload continued with currently ill people making up only 12.10 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, which rose to 71,20,538 today.

Active cases remained below the 9-lakh mark for the fourth day in a sign of the disease graph stabilising, but the officials are not letting the guard down in view of the festive season when congregations can create fertile ground for the spread of the virus. The toll climbed to 1,09,150 with 816 deaths in a day, while the total recoveries rose to 61,49,535, making up 86.36 per cent of the confirmed cases.

In another positive and stable trend, 71,559 patients recovered in the last 24 hours — more than the new confirmed cases, which were 66,732. New recoveries have outstripped new cases for over three weeks now. — TNS
