Army jawan killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan on LoC in Poonch

In a contemporary ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army alongside the Line of Control on Saturday, an Army soldier misplaced his life in Balakot sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand confirmed the killing, saying the main points of the incident could be shared shortly.

This is the seventh killing of troopers alongside the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri sector in Pakistan shelling previously two months.

According to the official statistics, Pakistan Army has violated ceasefire for over 2,700 occasions this yr up to now.

DGP Dilbagh Singh had lately stated that the ceasefire violations by Pakistan had elevated by 50-60 per cent as in comparison with final yr.

“In 2019, there was an increase of 70 per cent in incidents of ceasefire violations in comparison to 2018. And if we compare with the last year, there is an increase of 50-60 per cent this year. Under the garb of ceasefire violations, Pakistan and its agencies aim to push more terrorists to this side of border,” he had stated.

On July 17, three civilians have been killed when Pakistani troops shelled varied ahead areas and civilian locations alongside the LoC in Khari Karmara sector of Poonch district.
