Army jawan from Himachal’s Hamirpur killed as Pak violates ceasefire in J-K’s Poonch

In a recent ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army alongside the Line of Control on Saturday, an Army soldier misplaced his life in Balakot sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand confirmed the killing.

The deceased has been recognized as Sepoy Rohin Kumar of Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh.

This is the seventh killing of troopers alongside the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri sector in Pakistan shelling previously two months.

According to the official statistics, Pakistan Army has violated ceasefire for over 2,700 instances this 12 months to date.

DGP Dilbagh Singh had lately mentioned that the ceasefire violations by Pakistan had elevated by 50-60 per cent as in comparison with final 12 months.

“In 2019, there was an increase of 70 per cent in incidents of ceasefire violations in comparison to 2018. And if we compare with the last year, there is an increase of 50-60 per cent this year. Under the garb of ceasefire violations, Pakistan and its agencies aim to push more terrorists to this side of border,” he had mentioned.

On July 17, three civilians had been killed when Pakistani troops shelled numerous ahead areas and civilian locations alongside the LoC in Khari Karmara sector of Poonch district.
