Air India Express airplane with 191 on board overshoots runway at Kozhikode; two feared lifeless

Air India Express flight from Dubai with 191 on board crash lands at Kozhikode airport on Friday night, an airline spokesperson mentioned.

Reuters cited a police official as saying that no less than two individuals have been lifeless and 35 individuals have been wounded within the crash.

There have been 84 passengers and crew on the flight.

The airplane is believed to have overshot the runway after it landed—IX 1344—at the airport at round 7.40 pm.

Kozhikode airport is a tabletop airport.

Politicians took to social media to voice their shock and grief on the accident.

Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned he was “distressed” concerning the incident.

“Distressed to learn about the tragic accident of Air India Express aircraft in Kozhikode, Kerala. Have instructed NDRF to reach the site at the earliest and assist with the rescue operations,” he mentioned in a tweet. —Agencies
