37-year-old Delhi University professor electrocuted in waterlogged home

Vikas Tyagi, a Delhi University (DU) assistant professor who had come house to Moradabad throughout the lockdown, was electrocuted after rainwater entered his home right here on Saturday evening.

According to the household, Tyagi, 37, got here involved with a reside wire and died on the spot.

Tyagi was an assistant professor within the Department of Physics, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, DU, and is survived by his spouse, a 12-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.

The household that lives in Dwarka’s Sector 2 had come all the way down to their ancestral home in Moradabad throughout the lockdown.

The incident occurred when Vikas was attempting to disconnect an inverter saved on the bottom flooring the place rainwater had collected following heavy rain.

He collapsed on the spot and was rushed to a hospital the place he was declared introduced useless.

Vikas’s cousin Hemant stated, “The entire Buddhi Vihar colony remains waterlogged during the monsoon and rainwater enters our houses. Despite repeated complaints to the civic authorities, nothing was done to address the issue. If they had acted in time, my cousin would not have died.”

Soon after the incident, indignant neighbours gathered on the spot alleging the civic physique’s high-handedness.

The municipal officers swung into motion and deputed staff to empty out rainwater from the deceased’s home and the opposite elements of the colony. IANS
