Kanpur, July 9
Pramod Subramanian, an assistant professor within the division of laptop science and engineering at IIT-Kanpur, was discovered lifeless on campus which has been abandoned because of the pandemic-induced lockdown.
The 35-year-old professor was discovered hanging in a room on the campus on Wednesday.
IIT-Kanpur issued a press release by institute director Prof Abhay Karandikar saying, “I’m saddened to tell you concerning the tragic and premature demise of Prof Pramod Subramanian, assistant professor within the division of laptop science and engineering.
“In him, we have lost a bright and rising star in computer science in the country. We deeply mourn and pray to the Almighty to give strength to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Kalyanpur SHO Abhay Seth mentioned the reason for demise couldn’t be identified instantly.
“He was found hanging with a nylon rope around his neck and has not left behind any suicide note. We will wait for the post-mortem report and continue investigation,” the police official added.
The institute is sort of vacant because of the Covid-19 outbreak with no college students current aside from the college who reside on the campus.
