21 yrs on, Himachal braveheart’s household awaits LPG company

Kargil martyr Havildar Surinder Singh’s widow Veena Devi (52), a resident of Dann space in Jawali, has been operating from pillar to put up for the allotment of an LPG company as promised to the household after her husband’s martyrdom on July 20, 1999.

“The then CM (PK Dhumal) had announced an LPG agency for the family, naming of the local ITI after the martyr and erecting a memorial gate at Keharian Chowk in Jawali. Barring the re-naming of the ITI, no other promise has been kept so far.”

Inquiries reveal that the Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, had, on September 14, 2017, submitted a proposal to the Chief Manager, IOC, Shimla, to open an LPG company at Raja Ka Talab within the identify of martyr’s kids, however the proposal was turned down.
