WTC ultimate venue modified on account of Covid

London: The ICC has laid out its reasons for holding the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand in Southampton instead of the scheduled venue of Lord’s in London. The ICC initially had said the match would take place at Lord’s but after discussions with the England and Wales Cricket Board, they confirmed Southampton, which has an on-site hotel at the Ageas Bowl, would host the June 18-22 contest. Southampton hosted a Test against West Indies last July, and two Tests against Pakistan in August. TNS, agencies
