Turin (Italy), May 30
Indian golfer Tvesa Malik carded a 1-over 73 in the final round to finish a creditable tied-10th at the Ladies Italian Open here.
Tvesa birdied the first two holes and even got into a share of the lead before slipping. It was her first top-10 finish this season. A day after recording a stunning 6-under back-nine during her round of 66, Tvesa was hoping to record her best finish on the Ladies European Tour. Her career-best finish on LET is T-6 at Hero Indian Open in 2019.
It has been a good start to the year for Tvesa, who was T-23 in South Africa and now a T-10 finish places her well on the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit.
Diksha Dagar (72) shot an even-par and was 3-over for the week, finishing T-43 in her first start of the year. Astha Madan (77-80) had missed the cut.
French amateur Lucie Malchirand, who had the lead overnight, was trailing Ursula WIkstrom (68) and Gabriella Cowley (72). The duo had set the clubhouse target of 6-under.
Malchirand birdied the last two holes to jump ahead and win outright. She had birdied the 18th in the second round to take sole lead a day earlier. — PTI
Gangjee finishes 10th after climbing to tied-2nd
Okayama (japan): A birdie on the second hole saw Rahil Gangjee move to tied-second but the Indian golfer dropped too many shots to stay in contention, finishing at tied-10th in the Gate Way to The Open Mizuno Open. Gangjee, who was third after Round 3, finished the tournament with an eagle to seal a top-10 finish with an even-par 72 in the final round. It was Gangjee’s best finish this year. Overnight leader Juvic Pagunsan (68) won by three shots over Ryutaro Nagano (66). Both earned a spot in the 149th British Open at Royal St George’s in July. PTI
