The Late Shri Madan Lal Sharma Memorial Cup, a T-20 cricket tournament, commenced at the Bashing ground, 4 km from here today. Atul Sharma, son of Madan Lal Sharma, was the chief guest in the inaugural match between Bhuntar Royals and Left Bank Eleven.

Ayaan Sharma, a social worker of Mohal village and president of the Madan Lal Sharma Foundation and other players welcomed the chief guest.

Atul said teams of different areas of Kullu were participating in the tournament and the players should try to develop healthy relations. It was a unique effort wherein a team of Kullu would be selected to represent Kullu at various cricket tournaments in the country.

He was thankful to the foundation to launch a tourney in name of his father. He appreciated the arrangements made for the tournament in the wake of the Covid crisis to promote sports and provide opportunities to the youth of the valley.
