Rublev downs Sonego in Vienna for fifth title in 2020


Russia’s Andrey Rublev beat Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego 6-4 6-4 to win the Vienna Open on Sunday for his fifth ATP Tour title of the year, the most by any player on the tour. Rublev, 23, had previously won tournaments in Doha, Adelaide, Hamburg and St Petersburg and improved to a Tour-leading 39 wins in 2020 — tied with world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Dar breaks record of most ODIs as on-field umpire

Aleem Dar today broke the record for most ODIs as an on-field umpire when he stood for his 210th match in the series’ second match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe here. The 52-year-old from Pakistan surpassed South African Rudi Koertzen’s record of officiating in most ODIs. Dar also holds the record of umpiring in most Test matches. He achieved the feat when he officiated in his 132nd match last year — Australia vs New Zealand in Perth in December — to go past Jamaican Steve Bucknor’s mark. The record for officiating in the most international matches — 387 — is also in the name of Dar. He has also umpired in 45 T20Is, one behind his countryman Ahsan Raza.

PSG win 3-0 at Nantes, Rennes beat Brest 2-1

Kylian Mbappe set up the opening goal and scored from a penalty as French league leaders Paris Saint-Germain shook off a sluggish start to beat Nantes 3-0 for a seventh straight win. PSG were missing Neymar — who hurt his groin playing in the Champions League on Wednesday. The win moved PSG three points ahead of Lille and Rennes, who earlier won 2-1 at home to Brest. Agencies
