Prajnesh Gunneswaran regained the India No. 1 spot with a 6-0 6-3 win over Kazakhstan’s Dmitry Popko, carrying him into the Orlando Open semifinals here today. Sumit Nagal will slip to second spot.

Tvesa Malik finished as the best Indian golfer at tied-39 after carding a 3-under 69 on the third and final day of the Saudi Ladies Team International here today. Aditi Ashok, who shot 71-74 on the first two days, scored a 75 to slip to tied-47th, while Diksha Dagar (76) ended tied-76th and Astha Madan (81) was 109th. Emily Kristine Pedersen won her third title in less than three months.

Athletics meet held in Karnal
Even as sports federations look for ways to safely resume sports events in the times of Covid-19, things have started to reboot at the district level. An athletics event was held at the Karan Stadium in Karnal today, focussing on trainees who had been away from the competitive scene. The meet involved 200 participants in various age-groups and disciplines.

There was some good news about the opening match in the India-Australia Test series.
