Prajnesh fights previous Sock to enter quarters

Cary (USA): Prajnesh Gunneswaran defeated Jack Sock in a three-hour contest to enter the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Tire Championships. The fourth-seeded Indian beat the former top-10 American 6-7(3) 6-2 7-6(5) in Round 2 of the ATP Challenger event. Sock, who had reached a career-high singles ranking of eight in 2017 but is currently placed 253rd, failed to trouble Prajnesh’s service much. The American earned just three breakpoints while converting just once. Prajnesh, however, was wasteful with his chances, converting just three of the 12 breakpoints he earned. World No. 146 Prajnesh next faces Brazilian qualifier Thomaz Bellucci for a place in the semifinals of the $52,080 hard-court tournament. The 32-year-old Belluci, who was ranked as high as 21 in 2010 but has slipped to 297, has won four singles ATP titles. PTI
