Physically Challenged Cricket Association rues BCCI apathy

The Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India (PCCAI) is disillusioned that the BCCI was but to combine them of their system regardless of repeated appeals.

“When Sourav Ganguly was elected as the BCCI president, many had hoped… especially the disabled cricketers were very hopeful that someone would finally look into their matter and change their lives,” the PCCAI stated in a press release.

“Their hopes were further raised when there were couple of meetings between the disabled cricketers and Dada (Ganguly). But nothing has materialised till now. And the hope has turned into disappointment,” learn the assertion.

The affiliation additional claimed that disabled cricketers weren’t recognised in India.

“It has been more than a couple of years, but the BCCI is still dormant,” it said.

Since bodily challenged cricketers usually are not underneath the BCCI umbrella, they hardly get any help.

“The result of this behaviour of BCCI is that disabled cricket that includes blind, wheelchair, deaf and dumb cricket is still not recognised in India and hence the players who are part of these teams get absolutely no assistance or no recognition from any quarter of society,” the PCCAI said.

PCCAI secretary common Ravi Chauhan claimed that the situation of gamers was marginal earlier than the COVID-19 outbreak and it had turn out to be worse now.

“The BCCI has completely overlooked this issue. We have written many letters and made many representations to the BCCI, but our prayers have met deaf ears,” he stated.

“These players are good. They don’t want people to pity them, all they want is equal opportunity,” stated Chauhan. PTI
