Paris Marathon cancelled after coronavirus hits journey plans

The Paris Marathon has been cancelled due to the coronavirus after repeated makes an attempt to discover a new date, organisers stated Wednesday.

The race was initially on account of happen in April however was then moved to October.

Organisers stated they’d not too long ago tried to rearrange the race for November however persevering with journey restrictions made that unrealistic.

“Faced with the difficulty that many runners, especially those coming from abroad, had in making themselves available for the 14th/15th November, it was decided that it would be better and simpler for those concerned if we organised the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris in 2021,” organisers stated in an announcement.

They will now deal with the 2021 version of the race. Runners who have been registered for this 12 months’s race will probably be mechanically signed up for subsequent 12 months.

The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on the worldwide marathon calendar, given the big numbers of runners usually concerned and the problem of sustaining any social distancing.
