Madhya Pradesh’s junior archery team is counting its losses after a coach of the Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express train they were travelling in caught fire. The team lost archery equipment and valuable documents in the fire, which engulfed the C-5 coach of the train.
A 10-member recurve archery team was travelling to Dehradun to take part in the Junior National Archery Championship when they were caught in the fire.Recurve coach Ashok Yadav saw fire and smoke near a washroom and alerted all the passengers. “We were running away from the fire towards C-6. We just had time to save each other. We have lost everything. Thankfully none of the passengers was hurt,” Yadav told The Tribune. “Many archers are shaken up and in shock. But hopefully they will come out of it.”
Amit Kumar, Harsh Sindhiya, Rohit Rajat, Vitasa Thakur, Sonya Thakur and coaches Ravi Pradhan and Yadav were part of the group that had a lucky escape.
