Might be again to my T20 model: Rohit

Ahmedabad, March 10

Indian opener Rohit Sharma, the batting star of the Test series win over England, said he had to play in a less attacking manner in the Tests — and that in the T20I series, he would be back to his normal methods, which are very aggressive. Sharma said he would try to give the team a good start in the T20 series against England, especially in the first six overs. Sharma will be playing his first T20I after over a year as he did not tour Australia for the limited-overs series due to an injury he suffered during the IPL. India had beaten Australia 2-1 in the T20I series.

Speaking ahead of the T20I series that begins here on Friday, Sharma talked of the challenges he faced during batting in the last Test when he had to bat in a vigilant manner. “When you have to go against your own nature and have to do things that you are not used to, then it is a small win. If you keep doing that again and again then you will gain in confidence. The way I batted, especially in the last Test match, when I made only 49 runs but played 150 deliveries, I felt great. I had to play against my nature,” said Sharma.

“I felt like I should chase the deliveries that they were bowling outside off-stump, but I kept my nature aside and batted. I didn’t play bad shots. To play with discipline was key,” Sharma added. — PTI
