The Mumbai Cricket Association on Thursday determined to reinstate and reposition the 2 everlasting seats on the Wankhede Stadium within the title of batting nice Sunil Gavaskar after it went lacking following a renovation of the venue in 2011.
The two mounted seats have been initially allotted to Gavaskar and his spouse on the Garware Pavilion to honour him on the time of his retirement.
However, the seats weren’t restored after the seating association was modified from cushioned wood planks to bucket seats throughout the renovation forward of the 2011 World Cup.
Nadim Memon, an MCA Apex Council member and a veteran curator, had requested the man Apex Council members to revive the 2 seats.
A day earlier than Gavaskar’s 71st birthday, MCA issued a press release saying these seats might be reinstated.
“It was brought to our notice, that the two fixed seats allotted to Smt. and Shri Sunil Gavaskar were inadvertently, not restored,” the MCA mentioned in a launch.
“However, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) headed by the President, Dr. Vijay D. Patil, has decided not only to reinstate the two fixed seats in their honour but also re-position the two fixed seats in the name of Smt. and Shri Sunil Gavaskar, in the President’s Box at the Wankhede Stadium.”
